	Introduction

	Apte Wachan Mandir Ichalkaranji is one of the oldest public libraries in Maharashtra . Incepted in 1870, it is gracefully nearing its post-centenary golden jubilee year. The library adjudged the best A class Taluka (Tehsil) Category Library in the State, has a long tradition of literary activities and has proved to be a great source of inspiration for the knowledge seeking reader community.

Salient Features of Library

Centrally located, spacious building owned by Library. A large collection of books. Reference section consisting rare books, manuscripts and volumes of historical importance. A various sections catering to the needs of varied class of readers. A string of literary Programmes, activities, events organized round the year. Spring lecture series (Vasant Vyakhyanmala) being arranged since 1970. The State-level literary awards felicitations since 1998. Computerized data and working for the benefit of a reader community. Photo copy facility available for Research, Students and Readers. Open terrace for Book-exhibitions or open air meet & small guest room for visitors are available in the premise. A fully equipped auditorium with a capacity of 250-300 seats under construction at the top of existing building.
